Life Jackets - the sensible precaution

Selecting a life jacket is a personal choice, but there are some basics.

  1. Make sure it’s the right size;

  2. Make sure it is comfortable to wear;

  3. Familiarise yourself with how it works. Sounds stupid, but a poorly fitted life jacket can be a threat to life.

  4. If it’s an inflatable make sure that you can reach the tag to inflate. It is not smart to hide the tag inside the cover - you may not be able to reach it to inflate when it’s needed.

Also remember, an operator inflated device can’t be inflated if the operator is knocked unconscious.

Most of all - ALWAYS WEAR YOUR LIFEJACKET WHILE RACING
