Alan Simpson, NZTYA President, attended and completed, and reports Lake Rotoiti is one of those places that only those who are familiar with it can truly appreciate. Like a number of other North Island lakes Rotoiti is a perfect place to cruise for a weekend, finding hidden gems in which you can moor for the night after a gentle days sail.

However these are not necessarily the best conditions for racing and so it proved on the Saturday. The wind, such as it was, moved through 180 degrees at least twice and at no stage threatened to lift the wind gauge above 5 knots. However Race Officer Ian Clouston persevered and managed to complete 5 races for the 3 divisions.

The wind settled in from the South West on Sunday and the series was completed by lunch time in breezes at times above 12 knots.

Three worthy champs were found with A Divsion going to Ross 780 Cool Change, B Division to Archabault Surprise, Boo and C Division to Farr 6000, Tannifar completing the honours.

All credit must go to Brad and his team at BOPTYS for a most hospitable regatta, sailed in great spirits.
